DESCRIPTION: "The call of the loon evokes the stillness of the undisturbed wilderness. I wanted to capture the magic of the loon in the serenity of the moon rising and reflecting on the water"

Loons are often considered to be a symbol of wilderness and solitude. Their calls are fascinating and variable ranging from tremolos, wails, yodels and hoots. The wail is one of the loveliest of loon calls and is used to regain contact with a mate during night chorusing and in answering other loon tremolos.
